In 1880, how does a woman survive abandonment by her husband when too ashamed to go home? Molly Dandridge comes to Green River City in hope, but soon knows despair. She finds work, of sorts, in Andy's Saloon, when Purgatory Sands arrives, a newly commisioned marshal, hoping to shake his past and become a respected lawman. Purgatory and Molly meet, feel strongly attracted to each other, but have pasts that complicate those feelings.
